I just "upgraded" my dnn 3.x to 4.x.  I have never been able to get it to resolve a parent website.  It will work for a subdirectory, but not a fully qualified url for a new portal.  I installed a clean install of dnn 4 into c:\dotnetnuke and made the site a virtual directory off my server at www.shelbynet.com/dotnetnuke  I get that page and I can add a child portal without problem, but when I try to resolve www.karla4commissioner.com it takes forever before deciding the web page cannot be rendered.  I've given ASP.Net full rights from dotnetnuke all the way down, and created http headers.  It ain't working!  Anyone have any ideas before I scrap this thing and build my own.

You must set the subdomain with a "ROOT" permision so DNN will treat the subfolder as the root.
