Hello dear Events Team.

I have seen some upgrade issue from upgrade from Events 03.03.07 to 03.03.08.  The upgrade breaks the Event Module, only uninstall and install as new Module solves it.  I see this as a not userfiedly point, about they losed existing data. I am sure it is anything in the SqlDataProviders, but didn't have time to seach it out.

To reproduce it install the 3.3.7 and add some data, then upgrade to 3.3.8 and go back to the events page.  It will be get an error.  Restart the application did not solve it.

Sorry posted in wrong Forum, would be in team Forum, and I can not delete it.

Feel free to ping me via MSN for questions or Email me.

Kind regards

Matthias

Hi Matthias,

I could't  reproduce the described issue on a new DNN 4.8.2 (XP Pro, SQL Server Express)  with one  Events 3.3.7 instance that contained a single event. I upgraded to Events 3.3.8 wihout errors, and the event was still there. Could you give details about your DNN configuration and the data in the 3.3.7 instance?

I remember, however, having read some older posts where users said they lost their events after an upgrade, but I'm not sure if this concerned a DNN or a Events module upgrade. I'll try to find these posts again, and re-check the issues in Gemini.

Hi Michael,

I've not tried to reproduce yet, but noticed some problems in the sqldataproviders between versions. Matthias thought the issue was to do with objectqualifiers not being included in the sqldataprovider script.  So it may be worth trying with your dnn install setup with an objectqualifier. However I'm doing a run through of all sprocs since they look like many are different after an upgrade install to 4.0.0 as opposed to a new install. Probably be a couple more hours on it.

Tried the same on another new DNN 4.8.2, this time with an objectQualifier="dnn_", but still no luck. Does the databaseOwner matter as well? (="dbo" in my case)

To ne honest I don't know. I IM'd with Matthias last night, he didn't have a copy of the error, but did say he would try and get it to me. dbo could be the cause, but I notice the wizard won't let you install with non-standard dbo otherwise I would have tried this in my updates.

One other thought is that it is undoubtedly a German site, since Matthias is German. But I think it wasn't one of his sites, but someone in a user group he is in.

I'm hoping the updates to sqldataproviders that I just uploaded will fix the problem. I'll try to test also later.
