Hi all,
Doing my first e-commerce site and hit a mental road block. Just can't get my head around taking online payments and whether the site must have a catalog/shopping cart to function.

In short, the site sells holidays. The customer browses the site, checks availability for their chosen holiday and then makes a request to book. I collect their personal details and then want to take a deposit, by credit card, to secure the holiday.

I do not have a catalog, just pages (populated by xmod stored data) describing the holidays and the dates the customer can depart.

Can I just collect the customers personal details and then fire off to WorldPay, Protx, etc to collect the payment?

Don't want to use Paypal or Google Checkout.
I'm in the UK if that makes any difference.

Don't need a shipping cart but you need someway to get the client info to the payment processor.  On snowcovered there is a module called bookable events by Greg Turner.  This module can be purchased and it ties into eitehr paypal or authorize.net to handle payments.  This might be an option, when you don't really need the full functionality of a store. We bought this module and it turned out to be almost what we needed.  The support of the moudle is not very good in my opinion but if you have some programing sklills you might be able to make it do what you want.

Another option might be to host an iframe in your site with the link to the parment processor.
