Tom try the 01.00.04 beta (http://dnn.gmss.org). This is usually because some field hasn't been filled in their DNN profile from the AD (quite often email). I made some changes in the .04 code that hopefully takes care of that. One of the fixes is that it creates an email address if that field is blank. Another fix was that the user's Locale (i.e. en-US, en-GB) wasn't getting set if the portal had en-US disabled.

I have installed this on my test system and it seems to fix the second issue, the roles still do not synchronize.

One update, both my test system and my live system are upgrades from DNN 4.4 with AD installed.  After upgrading, both exhibit the same symptom with groups.  However, i have another system, my development system that i upgraded from 4.7 (doesn't have all the same modules as my live/test systems) and AD synchronizes and allows DNN roles to be in Role groups. My next step is to redo my development system as an upgrade from my test/live systems.

Thanks Tom. I wonder if you might be onto something and that might be the reason I can't recreate the problem. All my sites running the AD were/are fresh installs of DNN 4.6 with the users migrated in where it was applicable.

On your test system let's try this. There's a program called WinMerge that you can use to compare files and directories. Try comparing the upgrade/install source version of 4.7 you used when you upgraded to the current install that doesn't work. I'm wondering if there's a left over .dll file in the .bin directory that's causing the issue you're seeing.

I've been going through this, but haven't found anything yet.  I did find something online about AttributeScopeQuery.  When was this added to the module? The reason I ask is that what I found online states that AttributeScopeQuery cannot be used with Windows 2000 AD.  We have 2003, but also have a few 2000 systems that authenticate.  Could this be the issue?

That would've been added in version .03 (it was actually added in version .01 but .01 and .02 were never released). Can you point me to where you found that about AttributeScopeQuery?
