I've had a lot of problems installing the modules for DNN.

I've read the forum posts and have discovered that fixing the permissions to include write permissions to some folders work.

THe question I have is, WHICH FOLDER REQUIRES THE WRITE Permission?

Or just blanket the entire folder tree with the same permission?

I'm using the most recent version of DNN and it's being hosted on a remote server.

Thanks.

humblepgmr,

General practice is to give the entire application directory (e.g. c:\inetpub\wwwroot\DotNetNuke_2) "modify" permissions for the ASP.NET or Network Service Account.

There is also an extra step you can take to ensure that the permissions propogate correctly.

Right click on your application directory -> select properties -> select security tab -> click advanced button -> select both check boxes at the bottom and hit apply. (Steps are accurate for Win XP & very close in Server 2003 and Vista)

Take care,

Ian

Hi Ian,

As I said in my original post, this is a remote server. I will relay the instructions to the service support representative when I make my attempt to install.

Other than permissions, where can I look, either in the database or file structure, to find out the possible cause for such a failure? Everything up till that point installs properly.

thanks.

Humble.

Hey,

Could you relate some of the exact error messages that you've been getting when trying to install a module? That would really help in narrowing down what the issue is.

Thanks,

Ian
