I'm trying to figure out if t's possible to make the menu appear to unregistered users. I want an unregistered user to be presented with the registration page when they click on a menu link which leads to a page which is only available to registered users. In other words I want the full menus to be visible all the time to all users but if an unregistered clicks a page which requires registration they then see the register page.

My experience is that if I set a page as avaialble to registered users that page will not appear in the  menu to unregistered users.

Am I missing something, is there an easy around this.

Cheers

I have a solution to that:

1-- Let the page visible to all users so it will appear on the menu
2-- On the module you put on the page that hold the data you want to hide,go to settings> Basic settings and under permissions uncheck the Inherit View permissions   from Page and make the module visible to registered users.
3-- Put a Text/Html module on the same page and again uncheck the Inherit View permissions from Page and make the module visible to Unauthenticated Users.Write   whatever text you want on the text/html module and link to the registration module.
Now you have the page on the menu, unregistered users won't see the data you want to hide, they will see the text and register link on the text/html module.Once they register the will no longer see the text/html module but the module that hold the data.
hope this will help you
