I want to use the User Defined Table to have a list of contacts (business directory) but I want to have a rating and possible a comment facility. The user defined table seemed to be the ideal solution for a contacts based system but the Repository Module has a rating system - but you HAVE to upload a file (or do you).

If I could have a rating system in the user defined table that would be ideal. Anyone done this before?

HI guys,

Anyone any ideas how to intergrate a rating system into user defined table or modify the repository to not have to upload a file?

you will need to extend the UDT module, since an additional module cannot build a reference to single records.

Leslie,
you do not have to upload a file to use the Repository. The repository module is template driven, there are many sample templates that come with the module and it's very easy to make your own. You just choose what functionality you want in your template, if you don't want to allow a user to upload a file, dont include the [FILE] token in your template.

As an example, take a look at the DotNetNuke Resource Directory. That is the repository module. It allows link sharing, people upload URLs and descriptions and it allows users to rate, comment and counts how many times each entry has been visitied.

I would suggest reading the Repository Admin and User's Guide availble on the Project Downloads page in the Other Files section to understand how the templates work and how you can use them
