Hello.  I'm new to the site and to DNN.  Pardon me if this isn't the best location for this message... I tried to pick the most appropriate forum.

I'm currently in the process of evaluating DNN as a replacement for our existing MaxWebPortal solution, however we're very tied to our existing News setup and would hate not to have something equivalent.  Our current system allows us to post messages in the site's forum and mark them as "News".  When this happens the site will then show the most recent news items on the site's main menu.  The number of news items to display and size of the summery is configurable and all past news items are stored in the forums until deleted (if ever).

Ideally we'd like something very similar.  Does DNN provide functionality such as this?

Many Thanx!

Yes, I have a site set up like that, but you have to buy the commercial Active Forums module, not the default DNN forum.

Could someone provide a link to this so I can check it out??  I'd really appreciate it.

Thanx!

epxbikes.com - The site owner is not very good at keeping it updated, but you'll see the news on the homepage and latest forum posts underneath. Only the site owner can post in the news forum, but visitors can comment on news items and also post in the other forums.  The convenience is that using a forum for this is easy for the owner to use and understand and it also handles a couple of images per post including resizing on upload. The thing that it lacks is the ability to pull an image from the post onto the front page and I requested or suggested this feature a long time back.

Thanx.  That looks to be exactly what I'm looking for.  Now I just need to find a demo site to make sure that it's easy to use :)  I'll be building this site for someone else so it needs to be idiot-proof :)

Thanx.  I think going to DNN it going to be a good choise.  epxbikes.com looks great considering it was built on a canned portal.  That's a testiment to the product it's built on.
