Hi,

I' d like to ask if DNN can work in multidomain environment (each DNN portal/subportal is based on specific dns name address like: www.idn.org.pl and second www.mazars.pl etc.). How to organize such environment and how to configure it via DNN or maybe IIS ?

Regards

Darek

Point all your domains to the DNN installation folder - you will do this in your hosting control panel or in IIS manager.

Each portal then has an Alias setting in Admin, Site Settings where you put the domain name. DNN will handle the rest. When you create a new sub portal, there is a place to type the initial alias in. This also means you can instantly change a domain name or add more domains to a single portal if you like.

How do you point all yoru domains to the dnn installation folder. Do you mean where you enter the dns settings?

I didn't install my copy of dnn in the root I have it in a subfolder. Is it necessary to have the initial install in the root directory in order to host multiple domains/portals?

You actually point your DNS for each portal to the same IP address that IIS is answering on.  It doesn't matter where you install DNN.  Create the portal, assign the alias(es) you will use for it and that's it.

This also all depends on whether you're running the server yourself or if it happens via a hosting control panel. Control panels are all different and some won't let you do the required actions.

In IIS Manager you create a new website and in the properties there is a place to put the fodler path in. In a hsoting control panel there may or may not be a tool for doing the same thing. You'll have to look for it or put a support ticket in.
