Hello,

I have a problem whenever i specify doctype (no matter how i do it, or on which skin i apply it) so if i input DTD into <skin>.doctype.xml and attach it to a skin, things become centered > (i tried 3 different DTDs and all with same result XHTML 1.0 strict, transitional, 1.1)

So what i want to know, am I doing something wrong or is this known issue? I tried fresh 4.08.02 install and added doctype.xml to default blue skin, and again missaligned. text-align do nothing. And everything else except all these labels and textboxes appear normal ... Looks really strange and i really need this working . To me it looks like things are being aligned somehow, what is no longer supported in standard specs? Thanks in advance.

Does your xml look like this?

- <XML>
<![CDATA[
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">]]>

 </XML>

Actually I used this:

- <SkinDocType>
<![CDATA[
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">]]>

</SkinDocType>

But both produce same result, I tried IE 7.0, FireFox 2.0.0.14 with same output ... whenever i specify DocType, things become missaligned.

I have 2 questions:

 1. Did you name the doctype file the same with your DNN skin's name?
 2. Did you check to see if your page is rendered in Standard Compliance mode?

Ok i think i have to show you, because this is really crazy.

1. I downloaded fresh 04.08.02 > extracted > uploaded > edited web.config for connection to database ...

2. Installed with custom install, changing settings only for host, admin, portal name

3. Created test account

4. I copied default skin "Horizontal Menu - Fixed Width.ascx" and renamed it to "Horizontal Menu - Doctype.ascx" then i added "Horizontal Menu - Doctype.doctype.xml" with DTD specified in above post to it ... then i created 2 pages ... Quirks and Standard ... Quirks is ordinary page with default skin, where i just added user account module for comparison. For Standard page i set skin ""Horizontal Menu - Doctype" and also added user account module ... everything looks right ... when changing between those 2 pages there are minor graphic differences, due to changed render mode, but alignments are OK ... Now if I enter profile (from loginlinks) from Quirks page, everything is normal ... But when i change to Standard page and enter exactly same profile from loginlinks, now its missaligned. |Everything inside credentials, password, profiles ... So now tell me is problem then? ... There is only one explanation, standard rendering mode is not supported by non-paged modules, because only in these are problems, i mean those like all admin, host links, editing modules etc. Because as you can see profile module on standard compliant page is aligned well.
