you could develop your modules in VS2003 on DNN3.2

these modules will run on both DNN3.2 and DNN4

And you have the *advantage*??? of having the old compilation model and module development guidelines

(I don't like putting stuff in App_Code either)

Hi purplebox,

Yah that was I thought. But I am sure VS2005 is there for a good reason to make our life easier.

Michael,

I've found your tutorial tremendously helpful in getting me started in module development.  Thanks!

Michael and anyone else who could help me out on this question:

If I use the starter kit to setup a module, I see reference to "YourCompany."  I would like this to change to
my actual company name, but I'm not sure what the "right" way to do this is.  Do I modify the starter kit somehow?  Change a config option somewhere?  Or do I simply manually change all instances of "YourCompany" to whatever I want it to be?

If the manual option is the answer, it would be nice if somebody had a list of all the places that it appears... otherwise I'll just do my best to find everything.

Thanks!

Take a look at this tutorial: build VS 2005 Macros to change "Your Company" and much more !

Hi there!

I have been trying to develop the guest book module using the tutorial at  http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/DNN_Module4/Default.htm. using visual studio 2005 and sql server to 2000. My website builds fine without error, but when i try to add a new guestbook module to the contentpane i get the following error over a empty container module.

A critical error has occurred.
Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.

I am new to dotnetnuke development , maybe i am doing something wrong but i have followed all steps in the tutorial.

Can anyone help me !

Thanx
