I'm a fresh-off-the-boat newbie to DNN (still staring up at all the tall buildings with my mouth wide open). Unfortunately, my progress was halted before I could even get started due to an install error that I could not find an answer to. My apologies if it has been thoroughly covered, but I could only find solutions to other fairly common install problems.

After watching a video tutorial where the author mentioned a similar error as well as the solution I finally learned that The issue was apparently caused from a missing folder in my Visual Studio 2005 directory - 'Visual Studio 2005/Templates/ItemTemplates/Visual Web Developer' was the culprit. Once I created that folder, the install ran like a champ.

Is there any known reason why I wouldn't have this required folder already? I would assume that somehow it was simply deleted if not for the fact that someone else had the same problem (and thankfully knew how to fix it).

I just thought I would take a minute to post this in case it can be helpful to anyone else. This forum has certainly been helpful to me.

Visual Studio doesn't have Visual Web Developer templates, imagine that.  :)

Two different products.  Of course, if you're installing DNN to run, you shouldn't be installing in VS anyway.
