We just launched this site yesterday after many months of work. http://www.iar.ubc.ca/

Last night I went it to add in some text on a page and only the menu bar for the FCK editor displays. The editor area is not there.

I did quite a bit of research and see a lot of FCK issues similar but not exactly like mine.

If I use the IP address to access the site, the FCK editor works fine, but not with the domain.

I had thought about doing a Text HTML editor upgrade to the latest version, but it requires DNN 4.7, and we are currently at 4.6.2

So then I was contemplating a full upgrade to DNN 4.8.2, so I can the latest modules, but I don't want to create any problems on this site so soon after launch.

The other version of the text editor works, so we are not dead in the water. But it does not have all the capabilities of the full FCK.

I just wanted to get some feedback to see if anyone might know why it would work with the IP but not the domain.

Also, I don't want to do a full DNN 4.8.2 upgrade if there are any serious known issues. I have been heads down on this project for quite a while and have not been able to keep up with what is happening with the latest release. But one way or another, I need to solve this issue pretty quick.

BTW, I am getting the same issues in Firefox and IE.

I did a version upgrade to DNN 4.8.2 and then upgraded the Text/HTML to the latest version.

Still the FCK will work using the IP but not the Domain.

Any ideas on why or where to even begin troubleshooting would be helpful.

Thanks.

FYI...when I posted this it said I was being moderated. Was that an error or what? Sponsors are not moderated.

Is there anyone that might have any ideas on this?

I have an XMod module that makes use of the FCK editor and I really need it to be able to update content since we are now live on this site.

I can get by in the short term using the IP address, but I am required to create training videos on how to use these custom modules, so I really need FCK to work.

This sounds like a portal alias issue.  Have you checked to make sure both your domain url is in your portal alias?  It sounds like just your IP address is just there.  You may also want to check your host settings and site settings to make sure that your qualified url is in the appropriate place rather than the IP address.

Hope this helps

Jerry
