Hi all,

My portal currently experiences a very weird error and it greatly affects usablility.

That is, when I click "Update" in Host Settings or click "Install New Module" in Module Definition or click "Create Portal", the request never completes and always times out, although the actions are still carried out (Settings are updated, Module is installed, Portal is created).

While the request is being executed, the site can not be accessed from anywhere (confirmed through A l e r t r a)

The portal's database is on an independent server. This problem seems to happen right after I upgrade to DNN 4.8.2

Could anyone please please help me with this? I have full control over my IIS (6.0)

Many thanks,

Duc

i'm not sure what could be happening, but i'd suggest that check the eventlog and ensure that it's not grown to a really large size - i've heard of cases where it was so large that any attempted updates timed out, and all the actions you mention get logged. If that's the case it may be wise to run "truncate table eventlog" to clear this down quickly.

Thanks Cathal, but that's not my case.

Anyway, since this error has been driving me mad, I decided to back up important information and start a new portal. Everything's fine with that fresh 4.8.2 installation.

BTW, here's what I got in Event Viewer:
