When I create a new page copying the modules and his contents from an existing page, DNN appears to "link" the modules rather than "copy" them. So when I change something in this new page's module, it changes the old page's module too. This behavior does not make sense for me. What I'm doing wrong? How can I change the new page's module without affect the old page's module?

I'm using DNN 4.3.0.

Thanks in advance.

noiag,

When adding a module to a page you can either A) create a copy or reference or B) add a new instance of the module. It sounds like you want to add a brand new instance of the module to the page instead of copying. Many people use the copy functionality - but it sounds like its not right for your scenario. Try adding a new instance of the module to the page from the control panel when logged in as the admin or host user.

Take care,

Ian

What you need to do is to create and use page templates. This wasn't fully implemented until a more recent version of DNN, so you'll need to plan on upgrading at some point.

Ian,

I'm not sure if I understood what you said. Yes, I don't want a reference, but a a copy, because the new page is similar to the old page and then, I can take advantage of the similarity and change only some parameters. But the version 4.3.0 does not have the three options: reference, copy and the third that I didn't remember. What are you saying is that I can't make a copy in this version, only a reference? When you say that I need create a new instance, appears that I need create everything in the new page from the scratch, and this is not what I want. I would like to take advantage of the work that is already done.

Thanks,

Fabio
