I am running DNN version 4.05.03. I have upgraded to the latest version 4.08.02. However when I overwrite my site directory with the contents of the upgrade package and load the install.aspx, the modules and skins are missing. After copying the 4.08.02 upgrade I updated web.config with my connection string and authentication keys but I notice that the modules are not listed in the "desktop modules" directory.

Anyone know how to get the modules and skins back? When I log into my upgraded site as host and go to module definitions all of the modules appear to be installed. Is there a procedure to import the modules back in to the upgraded site that I am missing?

I have a full backup of my site which I had to restore to get back to my functional site. By the way, I was only able to find an installation guide on this site from 2005. Is there an updated installation manual for DNN?

Thanks for any information.

Your desktopmodules directory is completely empty on your site?

It is not completely empty, it has a folder named authenticationservices in it.

Anyone else have any ideas on why the modules and skins would be removed after the upgrade from 4.05 to 4.08.02. Actually it makes sense since the upgrade procedures are to overwrite the site directory with the contents of the upgrade package install. When you look at the extracted upgrade package for 4.08.02 or any versions install package the desktop modules folder is empty with the exception of the "authenticationservices" folder. The modules must get populated after the install?

Thanks

If you simple copied and pasted the contents of the Upgrade package over your already existing files nothing should have been deleted. Are you sure you didn't delete everything from the directory first then paste in the Upgrade contents?

Did you manage to backup the file system and database before the upgrade (as any good DNN user should do when upgrading)?
