Hello,

I am new to DotNetNuke. I am trying to configure DotNetNuke on my machine. I have downloaded the install, and docs files. I am going through the installation guide and can not seem to get it to work. As soon as i hit my local machine's dotnetnuke directory, it gives me the "The Page cannot be displayed" error message.  I have created a new virtual directory like the guide talks about and also have created the database in sql with the new user and their permission like the guide talks about. i have the following.

I modified my web.config file to my machine's dotnetnuke database with the correct user name and password.

Windows server 2003 SP2 & MSSQL 2005 Standard SP2.

Please help.

Probably something in IIS itself that is not set properly.

Might start there by checking if you can browse a non-.Net file such as "403-3.gif", in the root of the website.

If this doesn't come up, then you might check DirectorySecurity tab in IIS  and/or the host header values to make sure URL/IP you are using is pointing and setup correctly.

If the 403-3.gif does come up, then it might be IIS not working happily with the .net framework  (which I find to be slightly-rarer situation on Win2k3).

At first, i was thinking of the samething but then my localhost site came up fine. I also had Sharepoint services 2.0 installed and sharepoint site came up ok as well.

I was able to pull up 403-3.gif.

As soon as i hit this dotnetnuke page, "The page can not be displayed" comes up immediately.

I have .Net 2.0 installed.

make sure, asp.net 2.0 has been install after IIS,  otherwise you might need to reregister asp.net.

Sebastian,

yes i confirm that .Net framework 2.0 is installed. I think this is more of simple issue that i can't seem to figure out because as soon as i hit my localhost/dotnetnuke, it gives me the page can not be displayed error very very fast. Yet the other directories are working fine.
