Unzipped DNN 4 files over DNN 3 site and proceded to get upgrade to work properly with ASP 2.0 and SQL 2005. Predictably when I attempt to open the upgraded solution in VWD it launches upgrade wizard and attempts conversion which fails with many errors. I can open clean install of DNN4 without any problems. I am not intending to alter any core modules and only want the ability to create custom modules using the starter kit templates or by simply integrating a standard user control.

This is slight aside, but thought I would vent a pet peeve. I appreciate the need for adhering to best practices for commerical or enterprise development, but I suspect most of the DNN user base just wants the ability to quickly connect users to data within a secure and structured framework. I understand programming rationale and elegance of n-tier development, but propagating user requirements through all these layers is too cumbersome and prone to mistake. I wish the development team would address the needs of users dealing directly with user changing user requirements, and not those developing modules for commerical sale.
