Hye there,

I need to customize Blog module according to the needs of clients. The website would be on 2.0 version of dotnet.

The problem blog module documentation is not available

2nd problem is it's source files are built on version 1.0 and cannot be converted properly to 2.0 by Visual studio.

Can any one please provide the link or provide documenation and 2.0 solution files

Regards,

Fawad Hussain

Fawad - I've run into this issue before.  I'll try to get something posted for you later today if possible.

However, I wonder if you really need to customize the base module.  The reason I'm asking is twofold:

1. You can accomplish a lot without changing the base code, by creating new modules that run alongside the existing module and provide "outboard" functionality.  For an example, you could see the BlogDisplay module available free from Radiant, which lets you customize the list view.  We are currently working on bolt-on functionality that will provide tagging, categorization and navigation tools as well.

2. Quietly, behind the scenes, Antonio has assembled a crack team of hotshot developers who are almost ready to start work on version 4 of the module.  We have a great team and high hopes for significantly improved functionality.  This module will continue to receive a lot of attention.  However, if you create a fork and customize the existing code, you'll probably lose out on all future development work done here.  I'd hate for you to miss out on that.

Hi Rip,  I would be interested to know more about the future plans of the blog module.  Right now I find it falls short - very short, of other products on the market.  While I like what DNN has to offer, there are just so many short comings that I am finding myself looking for something else.  Is there any chance you or another team member might be willing to share details on what's planned and an approximent time frame on when you hope to have this available?

Oh, and I'm really interested in the other new products you mentioned from Radiant.  BlogDisplay is amazing - tagging and categorization is sadly overdue in the blog module. I can't wait to see what you're capable of producing in these areas.
