Thanks for the answers so far, I have the (original) AD provider code running in VS.NET and it stops at my breakpoints.

To Use the AD provider does the machine running DNN need to be part of the AD Domain?

If it does not need to be part of the domain, how should my setup look like?

(For learning purposes and for testing my changes I would like to use the Visual Studio Debugger with the AD provider code. Only my development machine is not in the Domain of my test AD server which is on a virtual machine on my development machine.)

Note: My time is diverted to some other part of my project. I will be able to work on this no sooner as next week.
