sevenkat.... are you getting an authentication error or another error? It's kind of hard to point you in the right direction with minimal information.

I had a similar problem with authentication errors and provider errors popping up everywhere during a routine installation of DNN 5.2.3.

In my case it seemed to have been caused by having the physical directory for the DNN files on the D: drive instead of in the C:\inetpub\wwwroot\ folder (I was setting the site up using a virtual application/directory on IIS).  Once I moved the physical directory into the inetpub folder, all my issues with authentication and providers went away and it became a routine installation again.

I have not done extensive testing to find out why having the files on another drive partition is such a big an issue for DNN; nor if they actually have to be in the inetpub directory or if any directory on the C: drive will do.  The installs are working and that is enough.  (There may be other issues at work in your case).

I hope this helps someone . . .  Cheers - Pete

That's very odd and probably caused by wrong IIS-config and/or filesystem-level access rights.. Our DNN-installation (also 5.2.3) has always been installed in another directory and that has never given any trouble (so far).

It's too quick to immediately state that 'Having the files on another drive partition is suck a big an issue for DNN'.

NoBody, there are no limitations AFAIK, where the files may reside, however permissions need to be applied correctly, especially for the account used by ASP.net.
