Hi all,

I've created my own skin and am painstakingly yanking out all the superfluous tables but I'm stymied when it comes to 'Site Navigation' and the Html page content in the ContentPane - I can't find where to skin those parts.

Any advice?

Thanks, Rein

Have you actually made your skin? is it working? if not and you are not sure how to do the content pane where you will be able to drop a module in it -  then may be it is best to dissect the skins that comes with your portal to see how they are done. You will find both HTML version as well as the ASCX to guide you with doing your own.

Hey Salaro,

Yes, my skin does work. I've been going through the various controls and using div tags instead of tables with the intent to place elements using CSS exclusively (I'll be doing alot of css floating).

The only areas where I can't seem to get rid of tables is the 'Site Navigation' (I can't even get the phrase 'Site Navigation' to go away) and the base content of a page. The other modules placed on a page fall nicely into my contentpane (now a div tag, formerly a td). The base content also falls into my contentpane but it uses a table which I'm not really excited about and it will end up defying my (otherwise) compact CSS.

Oh - OK so you are very advanced in your approach. Yes Div can replace your tables nicely. However, As far as I know almost all the DNN modules are done suing tables and yes I agree it does defeat the object of trying to do table less pages.

My associate Vasilis has done some great work on this front. Please visit his site and download some of the free table less skins for ideas as well as his great Dream weaver extension for DNN

Hi Salar,

Thanks very much for helping me with this. Where can I find Vasilis' site?
