Hello,

Does anyone have any rules or ideas on when to use Linq for module development. Should everyone doing DNN Module development be using linq now? or not? When should it be used and when not? I just don't want to go down the linq path and find out its all a waste of time.... Does anyone build modules for resale that acutally use linq? or are they still built old school? I have seen Micheals comments here...http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryID/1728/Default.aspx  but want others ideas on when to use/not useLinq when building DNN modules. Is Linq it the prefered methond moving forward?

Thanks.

I just want to refresh the latest facts:

  • DNN5 should allow you to install a Linq to SQL module and have it update the web.config at the same time so you wont have to instruct the user to modify the web.config.
  • There is no way to do this in DNN4 so that is why you probably have not seen any Linq for SQL modules for sale.
  • There is no solution to allow Linq to SQL to support the "object qualifier" setting. However this is only an issue if the DNN site uses the "object qualifier".
