Hello,

I'm new to DotNetNuke and I have the following question: My host (www.jodohost.com) says that provides the DotNetNuke version 3.0. Does this mean that I sould start with the version 3.0 of DotNetNuke or it doesn't matter what version of DotNetNuke my host is offering and I can choose the latest version of DotNetNuke?

Regards

Dimitris

do they provide DotNetNuke V 3.0 or Microsoft .Net Framework V 3.0?

In the first case, I suggest to look for another host, cause that DNN version is ~3 Years old, in the second case, you can easily install current DNN 4.8.x on it and upgrade to future DNN 5.

Hello Sebastian

They provide DoNetNuke v.3.0.  They also provide Microsoft.Net Framework v.3.0.  What I didn't understand in your answer is: If a host provides a certain version of DotNetNuke then I am bound to use that particular version or I am free to set up and use the version of my choise? Is DNN a service that the host is providing or I can setup the DNN like a normal application? Should I choose a host base on what DNN version is supporting?

Regards

Dimitris

Dimitris, DotNetNuke does not limit hosting providers in their choices. In general, you should pick a hosting provider that does not limit you in your choices, but other factors might be important to you (like price, service etc).

Hello Erik,

I am not asking if DotNetNuke does limit hosting providers in their choices or not. All I am asking is: if the host provides a certain version of DNN, am I bound to this version or am I free to use whatever version I want?

Regards

Dimitris
