I have familiar with the DNN technology in having done a few very small websites. however, I intend doing a big one now and wish to know what is the most stable release out there? For me most stable means, least about of critical issues such that should I run into a issue I cannot resolve it witohut losing any information as my website is hosting by a hosting company so I do not have physical access to the server or anything. I do not intend building modules or anything. I am averagely technical but not a developer, so any advice would be great. I have installed 4.4.1, 4.62 and 4.7 on various sites and never really had any issues.

Nat,

I would go with the latest version of DNN.  They should be announcing a 4.8.3 release soon and 4.8.2 is very stable so I would use whatever the latest version is when you start your project.  At our company we generally setup all NEW clients with the latest version, with little if any problems.  I think you should be fine with that policy.

Hi Nat,

In my opinion, the 4.8 line has excellent stability and would easily be the right choice to answer your question.  The DNN team will release 4.8.3 shortly (likely in a matter of days), which will correct a couple security issues.  If you are not under strict time constraints, I would recommend waiting on it.  Otherwise 4.8.2 upgraded to 4.8.3 upon release would be fine.

Regardless, the 4.8.x version is the one you'll want to go with!

I agree with broandon - you should be able to start wotk on 4.8.2 (and then upgrade to 4.8.3 as soon as it is released).  The fixes while important - are relatively minor in scope, so should not affect you in your development work.
