Hi

I am trying to install another instance of DNN 4.07 on the same host server. I have created a new virtual directory and unzipped the installer pack to a new directory on the server. When I go through the installation I get the option of creating the SQL database. I have noticed this database file is the same name as the previous installation and I tried to change it to DATABASE2.mdf but I then get error messages popping up and fail to install the 2nd instance of DNN. I believe I can't have to SLQ dbs with the same name even although they are in different route directories on the server. Basically the reason I am installing another instance if you like is to exactly mimick the old site and basically run tests on the new installation. Is there anyway to create a new alias that exactly mirrors the old one so I can test out modules etc without breaking the live system (1st installation of DNN)

Hope all this makes sense

Cheers Colin

Rather than using the dynamically attached .mdf database, I highly recommend installing into an actual manually created database.

I have a full installation guide available on my webiste http://www.mitchelsellers.com
