Will it be possible to migrate DNN 4.x.x to DNN 5.0 when it becomes available?  Are there any known limitations moving from 4.x.x to 5.0?

Thanks.

Derek

Accepted Answer

yes, it will be the standard process to update a 4.x version to 5.x, in fact if you're upgrading from 4.6.2 or above, you'll just be able to simply copy the 5.0 upgrade package over your original copy and dotnetnuke will migrate and merge any necessary settings (see http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Blogs/tabid/825/EntryID/1843/Default.aspx for some more details)

Is there an anticipated release date?

Thanks.

I'm afraid not, we're already up to our fourth internal beta and are still finding lots of issues due to the necessary level of rearchitecting that was done to support admin/host modules been abstracted out. It's likely to be at least a few more weeks before it's ready for release.
