You can't access "localhost" from a remote system.  If you use this URL, that's your problem.  If not, then DNN is forwarding to this since it only has this as a portal alias and you haven't added a portal alias for what you are using as a URL.

That was returned using a HTTP packet sniffer from a remote system whilst connecting to the website through it's IP address after installing via the wizard.  I never had to add a portal alias when I set this up on another system, so slightly confused as to why I'm having to do it now.  I've just added the IP of the machine as a portal alias to see what happens.

Thanks for your help, it's much appreciated.

Hi again,

I added the IP as an alias and now it can be accessed externally.

So a warning to anyone else setting up a site, remember to do this before accessing it externally or it will break your site.
