The timeout for logged in users is generally governed via session timeout value which can be controlled using IIS default session timeout settings and from within ASP.NET code. By default IIS is configured to terminate user sessions after 20 minutes of inactivity.

The way I do it on my site is through the web.config

In the <system.web> section add
    <sessionState timeout="X" />

Where X is the timeout in minutes. It's not in there by default, it uses the IIS default of 20 minutes.

Took me a while to figure out that tag. Was annoying the hell outta one of my clients. :) I know have mine set for 600. They like that.
