Hello,

I've upgraded our intranet-site from 4.6.2 to 4.8.2 (and now 4.8.3). That means, that we now use the AD provider v. 01.00.03.

We have a problem, when our users navigate to the website, they are not automatically redirected to windowssignin.aspx. At least not the first time. We have put at link on the frontpage that redirects to this page, and when the user has clicked it once, it seems to be remembered, so that the next time, the user is automatically logged in.

So, really, the question is: How do we get it to redirect to windowssignin.aspx the first time also?

I have read the provider documentation, and:
- The user has added the site to the Trusted Sites-zone.
- Anonymous access to windowssignin.aspx is disabled.
- Impersonation is enabled in the web.config.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance,
Jacob S. V.

Is the second <add name="authentication".... /> under <httpModules> in your web.config uncommented?

Yes it is uncommented.

Then the only things I can think of trying is to clear cookies/temp files on the local computer and/or either restarting DNN through Host->Host Settings or restarting IIS.

Thanks a lot for your help so far - glad I didn't miss anything completely obvious.

I tried deleting all browser history, restarting the website, recycling the application pool and even restarting the server. None of these things made the first-visit-autologin work.

It seems, that when using the redirect-link to windowssignin.aspx for the first time, a cookie is created (or modified) locally on the machine. Whenever this cookie disappears (either by deleting browser history, deleting it manually, or by expiration) the autologin stops functioning.

Any thoughts? Can it be a permissions-issue, somehow? Especially the expiration-thing bothers the users (and me)..
