Some of the modules from Smart-Thinker might be just what you need.

Well you guys did scare me away from 4,000 sub-portals!  :-)

I was leaning that direction as a way to give each user their unique page "facebook style".   With 36,000 users, this appears to imply 36,000 pages.

I will look at Smart-Thinker "Wall".  It appears that I could tie a unique Wall to a UserID or to a GroupID??  Thus effectively making a single page appear unique for each of 36,000 users.

Thanks

Damn this gets worse! first I read that having more than ONE parent portal dramatically affects the speed of DNN then this! I am building my first DNN site for clubs, each club having its own portal. I would certainly be expecting 4000+

Is there no way with the help of a hosting provider to have such a DNN implementation?

Hi Leslie,

As a DNN specific hosting provider, we see companies every day that have tried to build their business off of "over-using" DotNetNuke's multiple portal feature, and, unfortunately, it always ends up as a mess.  The only time at all we ever give a "thumbs up" to a multiportal install is when 1)  There are a low number of portals and 2) All of the portals have the same "owner".  You can read about why recommend that at these urls:

DotNetNuke for Vertical Solution Providers

How to Run a DotNetNuke Business

As someone who is implementing vertical solutions, the best thing you can do for your business is lay a solid foundation for growth.  Unfortunately portals are not the way to do that.

Hi Tony thanks for the invaluable information. I have to say I am dissapointed at the outcome. Have you had such sites with 4000+ portals and what delays have you seen.

The end result is if you are to have a large traffic DNN site then stick to 1 portal, am I correct?
