I had recently modified a skin, installed the skin and everything appeared to be working fine (I was able to browse through pages, make changes in modules, etc.) until I logged off and tried to log back in. I have tried several different accounts to get back in and have had no luck. I can get to the login screen but it keeps telling me that my login has failed. Is there a way via the database to remove the skin and set the skin settings back to default.  This is my development environment and I would like to prevent having to restore the dev environment from back as many changes have been made that would be lost.  Any information is appreciated?

Thanks.

Derek

You could try logging in by putting this suffix on the url ?ctl=login

so if it were www.domain.com

it would be www.domain.com/default.aspx?ctl=login

see if that works

Unfortunately not.  I still receive a "Login Failed" message.

Any other ideas are appreciated.

UPDATE:  If I get to the login page via a page not utilizing the modified template and attempt to login I recieve the following message:

A critical error has occurred.
Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster.

Thanks for your help in advance.

hmmm. I dont know if this is feasable, but try deleting the entire skin direcotry that you uploaded.  It should default back to the original skin, the only thing is I dont know if this will fix the login in problem...

Give updates, I am curious.
