Hello

I want the document module, to show a date on which a document was created not modified. I want to be able to display a date next to the document title and download link. For example displaying a document created in 2005 Dec

Date                                     Title

20 Dec 2005                       My Document Title                    Download

Also currently we are uploading files from as far back as the late nineties, currently the sorting is doing fine(sorting them on Sort Index). My question is when we are uploading current documents won't this sorting be disturbed.

Please help

Regards

geeman

Geeman,

The documents "Created" date column is available via the settings for the module, however, it is based on the upload date to the module.  You might be able to get around that with some manual manipulation, depending on your needs.  Your other option might be to use the "Description" field for the date, and simply change the header text.

As for sort index, new items will not affect sorting, as long as the indexes are set in a manner that allows it to display in your desired order.

Hi Mtch

"Your other option might be to use the "Description" field for the date, and simply change the header text." I haven't managed to find where I change the "Header Text", is this in the db table or among the settings. Please provide some steps(if you have time).

Special regards

G

No problem!

To do this you will want to modify the values for the resource file for the documents module.

You can do this by selecting "Languages" from the Admin menu of your site.  Then selecting Language Editor.

In the tree view you will want to browse for the /DesktopModules/Documents/App_Localresources folder and find the view....ascx.resx file, in there you will find key values for each header.  SImply modify to your desire and you are set to go!
