Hi

We experienced an extreme slow down last night due possibly in part to an internet provider in the area. However, the slowdown in service affected the site very badly, when other sites may have taken twice the time to load (8-12 sec), our site was taking 100 seconds plus. After taking all the dynamic modules out of the site (anything using rss or claendar sharing or pulling from another page by other means) those pages were back to regular speed. However, the login and other pages are still very slow and registering or loging in takes 45+ seconds. Can someone explain to me their theories on why this may be occurring? (the site remained at normal speeds when tested internally and through other isp's)

Thanks for any help,
Mike

The first thing(s) I would check would be the AppPool, see what its drawing as far as CPU time and Vmemory. Also check the event log in DNN and the Application Log on your server. This may give you some insight.

Hi thanks for your reply. We looked into it and one of the worker processes is running about 270 mb but that should be well within bounds for this server. A coworker thinks it may be that the aliases are set up strange and that's why some isp's are having trouble and not others. I have 4 aliases set up for this portal, should I dump some of them? I am really in a bind here so please keep the ideas coming. Thanks. Mike

memond,

It looks like you have some issues relating to scheduler load and other items that are causing issues...Drop me an e-mail at msellers@iowacomputergurus.com and I might be able to help get you going.  (Since I don't get notifications from the forums here it isn't practical for me to help fully via this channel).

ALso, your aliases would NOT have any impact on the issue.

Mike:

Since it is not clear from your problem description, what happens when you access the site from an internal address???  Is it possible for you to test this???

Also, is your server dedicated or are there other sites/applications running on that server???  And how are they performing???

Carlos
