We are in need of a document control solution. We have tried using SharePoint, but with no luck with what we are trying to do. Here is the process:

1. Document is uploaded to site and into site library. When uploaded, footer is replaced by custom footer and minor version is added

2. Document goes through a revisioning process - Check in/Check out. While Checking in and out, footer is updated to match site library (eg. if site says ,4 document should say .4

3. Document is ready for publishing (Workflow) -Document is sent for approval. On approval document gets major version on footer as well as being converted to PDF. PDF is then sent to file system

4. Must have ability to role back versions,

5. For Office 2007 Documents

--- What would this cost?

--- Any Takers?

Document Exchange (DMX) is often pitted against Sharepoint and I'm happy to say it regularly wins the contest. Granted there are many differences but so is the price tag.

Most of points can be addressed with the product 'out-of-the-box'. Some may need to added. DMX is designed with extensibility in mind and this scenario is quite doable. Send me an email if you're interested to pursue this further.

Kind regards
