Hello!

I have two parallel installations of DNN in the same machine (not two sub-portals).
I'm using separated folders, databases and even application pools.

The portals are for different companies and is working well.

But, looking as administrator of both portals I have a problem.
If I login in one of these portals, logoff and login on the another portal I get a Bad Data error:
Exception Details: System.Security.Cryptography.CryptographicException: Bad Data.

I have found some issues about and it is a cookie problem, if i clean them everything woks fine again. But obviously, this is not a good solution.

Does somebody have an workaround?

Regards,
Vitor

Vitor - change the name of the form in web.config as pertains to the cookies (on one of them) and your error should go away... I believe the default is .DOTNETNUKE...

Hi Sanjay,

I tried this, but it stills not working...

If I login in the "Portal One", logoff and login in the "Portal Two" it works!
But, if I login in the "Portal 1" and try to login in the "Portal Two" without logoff first in the "Portal 1", the error occurs.

Any idea?

Thanks,
Vitor.

I'm assuming that your PortalAlias are not the same on both portals right? this "fix" has worked for me in the past but let me re-check to see if it's not working anymore. In my scenario I have several folders with different versions of DNN and I can run all of them side by side without any issues. Can you clear out your cookies and note what cookie names are being created for each of the sites?

Sanjay

Sanjay,

The portal alias are different, and my DNN versions are 4.8.2 and 4.5.1.

I cleared the cookies and accessed the "Portal One". The following cookies was created:

- EventSelectedDate396
- DNNEventsCulture396
- EventsCategory-1
- DNNEvents396
- _DRMCategory467
- language
- portalroles
- portalaliasid
- DNNBSP (this is the new forms name for this portal, rather than .DOTNETNUKE)
- .ASPXANONYMOUS
- ASP.NET_SessionId

After that, I accessed the "Portal Two" and the following new cookies was created:
.ASPXANONYMOUS2 (i have changed this name in the web.config)
authentication
.DNNBCS (this is the new forms name for this portal, rather than .DOTNETNUKE)
portalaliasid
portalroles

Ok, the cookies "portalaliasid" and "portalroles" was created twice. Maybe the problem is here.

The content of both "portalroles" cookies is empty.
The content of the "portalaliasid" is different (something with cryptography).

What can I do now?

Thanks,
Vitor.
