Hi

Does DNN use C:\WINDOWS\TEMP folder to unzip skins, work on host settings etc?

And if so, can the temp folder be changed? I am getting some strange errors concerning the application pool at my ISP, one of which is I have to get the application pool restarted from time to time and then when I go to Host/Host settings I get the following?

An error has occurred.
DotNetNuke.Services.Exceptions.PageLoadException: Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1). error CS2001: Source file 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\3js24crt.0.cs' could not be found error CS2008: No inputs specified ---> System.InvalidOperationException: Unable to generate a temporary class (result=1). error CS2001: Source file 'C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\3js24crt.0.cs' could not be found error CS2008: No inputs specified at System.Xml.Serialization.Compiler.Compile(Assembly parent, String ns, XmlSerializerCompilerParameters xmlParameters, Evidence evidence) at

Hi Robin,

DotNetNuke does not directly use the \windows\temp directory (at least as far as I am aware).  However, ASP.NET does use this directory for various purposes (including I believe for the generation of proxy classes, which it seems as if your application is attempting to do).  The IIS worker process account will need full permissions on this directory.

I believe the normal procedure would be to assign Full control to this directory for the IIS_WPG account.

Have a read of http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa480478.aspx particularly step . If your ISP is using a user per app pool and that user hasn't been given the correct permissions then you can get the error you are seeing.
