Hi everyone!

I have been working with Access for several years, but have no clue as to how DNN connection string works. I am trying to just get a simple 3 field report from data I have gathered into my database, but I can't figure out how to get the reports module to access (no pun intended) the data from the database. I have GoDaddy hosting, and have tried several different tacks, but I get an error message every time. My old website's string doesn't work either.

I tried to have the app set the string, but I don't know where to get the server name from? I know the exact path to the database file, but have not been able to come up with the server name.

Do I have to put quotes in? Do I have to include the part that goes into web.config?

Please help me, you kind-hearted people who developed this wonderful application!

Thanks so much!

Hey Doris,

FIrst, this resource may be helpful: ConnectionStrings.com: MS Access.

It sounds lke you're pretty close already! Have you tried using the following connection string style:

Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:\mydatabase.mdb;User Id=admin;Password=;

after selecting the "generic ado.net data source" and subsquently OleDb Data Provider from the Reports Module settings page?

Let me know how it goes!

Take care,

Ian
