I am getting to the install page and getting the error below; I have gone to my root folder and tried to add the permissions to the NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE but it is not listed - Did the search for names from the "Add" selection and added both Network and Network Service and gave them both Full Control - added ASPNET on local machine with Full Control but I am still getting this error - I went ahead and actually gave all users in the list "Full Control" - I am running IIS 5.1 - IE 7 - ASP.NET 2.0.50727 - Please Help

DotNetNuke Error: - Version 04.08.04

DotNetNuke Configuration Error

Access to the path 'C:\DotNet\web.config' is denied.

DotNetNuke has extensive file upload capabilities for content, modules, and skins. These features require custom security settings so that the application is able to create and remove files in your website.

Using Windows Explorer, browse to the root folder of the website ( C:\DotNetNuke by default ). Right-click the folder and select Sharing and Security from the popup menu ( please note that if you are using Windows XP you may need to Disable Simple File Sharing before these options are displayed ). Select the Security tab. Add the appropriate User Account and set the Permissions.

  • If using Windows 2000 - IIS5
    1. the [SERVER]\ASPNET User Account must have Read, Write, and Change Control of the virtual root of your website.
  • If using Windows 2003 - IIS6
    1. the NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE User Account must have Read, Write, and Change Control of the virtual root of your website.

on XP, the correct user is called "aspnet" . If you're accessing the website via anonymous permissions, make sure the IUSR_machinename user is also granted permissions.
