Would it be possible to get some communication from the project team on when the next version of the Provider will be available?  There hasn't been a blog post in almost a year, and there are a number of "bugs" in the current version of FCKEditor that have been patched -- the big one being the "scroll when you hit enter" in Firefox 3.

Are we going to have to wait for DNN 5 to release to see a new version of the provider?

It's been six days since I posted the question here about a status update on the FCKeditor Provider.

No response at all.

Is anyone working on this? If not, what can we do as a community to deal with the issue appropriately?

Since there is so little information coming out of the Provider team, I decided to do some digging on how I could upgrade FCKEditor to the latest version, preferably without having to touch the provider code.

My greatest annoyance as of late has been the fact that the current version of FCKEditor used by DNN has a bug with Firefox 3.  When you hit ENTER in the editor window, it forces Firefox 3 to scroll to the top.

The good news is I found a simple, straightforward article that seems to work.. here.

please be aware, that DNN teams are working on voluteer base and this one consists on a single contributor, who appearantly is covered by other tasks atm. The core team will be taking care of getting FCKEditorProvider updated.

Sebastien,

I realize that.  However, communication is key, and there has been very little of it for months.  I didn't ask for the fix, I originally asked for a status update.  If the only answer had been "we are planning to fully update the provider for the Cambrian release", that would have been 1000% more information than we have had over the last six months.

More to the point, however, is that the HTML provider is a key component of DNN ecology.  It's a little hard to add/edit content without a qualified HTML provider.  The user experience -- because of some of the bugs and issues with using a VERY OLD version of FCKEditor -- is severely downgraded as a result.  It's something that the Core Team should really evaluate AND FIX BEFORE the Cambrian release.
