Hi, I'm new to Nuke and I created a site on my local machine and was wondering if it is possible to move this local site (that refers to localhost) to a production server to access it using a domain name?

I have copied everything to the server, created the database, changed the connection string in the web.config, set up IIS...but when I try to browse for it, it looks for the site on localhost.  I have added Portal Aliases (with localhost still showing as the first entry), but I have had no luck.

Is this even possible or should I start over on the site?

If anyone has any suggestions, I would greatly appreciate them.

Thanks for all your help,

Mark

You may try adding an alias on the original machine that the site is working on that refers to the new location (site settings>portal aliases), then recopying to the production box. Otherwise, you could search for the localhost string within your database and replace it with the new hostname.

I tried that after I first copied it and it didn't work.  I added the following two aliases:

www.my-domain-name.com and my-domain-name.com

Is this all I should have to enter?  The initial entry for localhost is still present...does that matter?  There's no option to delete it.

Do you know (off hand) which tables would contain the "localhost" string?

Thanks for your help.

Mark

By the way the reason you cannot delete the local host on is because that is the one you are logged into
