I am trying to import an XML file into UDT 03.04.00. I can break the file into two files and both will import fine, but I can only have one or the other, not  both. If I try to import one after the other I get an error (no message) just an error icon and the second import aborts. When I import the whole file it imports about 525 records and then just sits there with the little green bar slowly flashing. Never an error, I have left it over night to see if it would timeout and give me an error, no go. It isn't always the same number of rows it imports, it can be from 300 to 560. It appears to be a timing problem but I have no idea if it's the UDT module or the SQL server, and how I would change the timing if I knew. It does the same thing on my development siteas well as my production site. The file only contains 912 rows.  I have spent more time trying to import it then it would take to type them in but I want to figure this out for future use, and sharing with others. If anyone can offer help it would be greatly appreciated.

Mass import is not very efficient in UDT as it runs insert statements for each table cell.

However, you do not need to wait until import has finshed. After you have started your import, you can go directly back to your page and watch the table growing. I managed to run a import of 10k rows some time ago.

Thanks for the quick reply Stefan. I read your earlier post on this, that is why I let my import sit over night. It reached the 500 or so limit in about 1 minute and then just set there. I kept checking (from another computer) and the number of rows never increased from that count. Any other suggestions?

Tom, I did not forget you, however this requires some more testing. You run into a timeout, and you can adress that in several ways, for example in enableing debug mode inside web.config. I am currently not able to give you exact configuration that helps you.

I will benchmark this again in preparation of the UDT 5 release.

Stefan;

Thanks for the reply. This is not critial to me but I would like to get it to work. I can wait until UDT 5 if I must. Thanks for the reply.
