Hey, guys.  Please forgive me if this is a simple yet stupid issue, but this is my first web site.  Anyway, I've developed my site on my localhost and have now uploaded it to IHOSTASP.net via WADE.  It says that everything was uploaded properly, but when I go to my site, all I get is this:

Installing DotNetNuke

Upgrade Error: ERROR: Could not connect to database specified in connectionString for SqlDataProvider

Server Error in '/' Application.

Runtime Error

Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

Please help!!

DColey,

This error message is generally displayed due to a mistake or incorrect information in your connection string.

Try using the information found in your connection string to log in to the actual database as well - this may help you determine if the credentials are invalid.

Here are connection strings to compare to:

 <connectionStrings>
    <add name="SiteSqlServer" connectionString="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke_2;uid=dnn2_user;pwd=dnn;" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" />
  </connectionStrings>
  <appSettings>
    <add key="SiteSqlServer" value="Server=(local);Database=DotNetNuke_2;uid=dnn2_user;pwd=dnn;" />

You may want to replace (local) with your server name and remove the parenthesis.

Take care,

Ian
