The Installer of DNN3 is gone and with him the password to the Host account. Is there any way around this problem without removing and reinstalling DNN3? And if reinstallation is the only solution, is there some way not to lose the sites already up and running? Thanks for any suggestions.

If you have access to the database the solution is quite simple. Open the aspnet_membership table in Enterprise Manager, and look for an account you do have access to. You should be able to find that account by looking in the email column. If you found the account, copy the values in the password field and passwordSalt field to the record of the host account, and now you can log as host with the password of your "known" account.

If you can't find the host account, the quickest way to find it is to also open the aspnet_Applications table, find the record with ApplicationName "-1", and look at the applicationID. Find that same applicationID in the aspnet_membership table, and that will be the host account.

Good luck!

cheers,

Erik
