Thanks Will and Don

That sounds like I'll test run a few of these modules. I am interrested in modules with these functions in them:

  • Tagging
  • Multi-Author support
  • Approval Workflow
  • SEO enhancement
  •

which module have you been purchasing and could recommend?

Actually, our website team blog had optimized the core blog and developed those features as following:

    1) Category management
    2) Tagging
    3) Approval Workflow
    4) SEO Enhancements
    5) Multi-Page support

More excellent feature is the skin engine and you can select the skine theme as you wish.

Please visit the link ( http://www.dnnsun.com ) if you are interested it.

in the same time, I think that those features had been parts of the core blog module roadmap in future.

I'll expand a bit on why I went with the module that I selected.  First of all, I made this migration well over a year ago, and I know that the DNN blog module has had improvements, and that more are on the roadmap, so if some of these items are now in the core module, I apologize.

At the time I had many issues if you will with the blog module and my future plans for my blog.  The first major issue was that I needed the ability to have multiple authors inside of a single blog.  The second issue was that I needed a bit of workflow possibility to allow guest posters to submit their articles, but I had to be the one to approve before they go live.  Also the SEO aspects were a major part of the deal as well.  News Articles includes the URL rewriting pieces needed to generate the friendly URL's referenced in the above posts.

I also found the News Articles templates and other features easier to use and understand with a single module providing ALL functionality and configuration settings.   I can say that since I have made the change I've never really thought of doing anything else, so I think that is a good sign...

While these are great enhancements (and I appreciate the work and effort!) unfortunately the drawcard for me is multiple authors. PokerDIY is a social network and I want to give every user their own poker blog to allow everyone to contribute content. I really like the way http://www.nesters.com/Blogs/tabid/64/Default.aspx have done it using Ventrian News Article (which I use currently anyway).

Unless this feature is coming soon I have no choice but to move away from the core (unfortunately I am finding this is the case with most of the core modules). It has served me well up until now and I appreciate the time spent on it!
