Hi,

I have a DNN 4.0.2 test portal that was installed by my hosting service. Everything appears to work Ok so far, except for user verification emails.

When a user registers, it seems to be random whether they will recieve the verification email (about 50% never receive it at all).  Occasionally, a DIFFERENT user, who is already verified, will receive a random verification email when a NEW user registers.  I have confirmed that this is not due to any spam filtering performed by the user's ISP, as I get the same problem when I register several test accounts using my own (different) test email addresses.

The New User notification to myself, as host, always appears, as far as I can tell. So I know my SMTP settings are correct. I have 2 questions...

1) Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this bug, or any workaround (apart from not using verification)?

2) Is there any way that a user who is affected by this bug can request another copy of the verification email (incase it might work a 2nd time)?

Thanks in advance,

Atlay

Hi, I am having the same issue, but it not that the verification is not working, it is because email providers like Hotmail are using Sender Indentification.  This makes it look like emails from the registration process are being spoofed.  Some providers will send them to Junk Mail, other times they will go into space (Hotmail will sometimes reject the email altogether.)  The registration email will be from the user registering, for example:  User@hotmail.com.   So the From address will be User@hotmail.com.  Since hotmail is not in the txt record of the server/domain sending the email, then it looks spoofed.

My question:  Is there a way to have the Registration email use the From address of the address configured for the portal (support@mywebsite.com) instead of from the user that is registering?  This will solve the problem that everyone will face as more providers start using Sender Indentification.

Thanks,
Tim
