Hi

I am trying to do a new install of DNN4.0.2 on my machine at home so that I can develop a new site. I am running Windows XP with SP2 and started the installation with VWD2005 and the DNN4.0.2 Starter Kit. The procedure requires that the file permissions where the site is going to reside be changed. So when trying to do, I right click on the folder, select Security and Sharing, now I should be able to select the Security tab and change the permissions. However, the security tab doesn't exist. Why? Without that I cannot change the file permissions and cannot begin with my site development using DNN. Why isn't the Security tab there?

Thanks

I have seen this last week on someone's laptop.  No security tab at all, so we used the old fashioned way of sharing and allowing everyone to change and it installed ok after that.

Hi Nina

Thanks for your reply. How exactly did you share the folder? I did try and turn on simple file sharing, but had no luck with that either. How did you share the folder and give everyone permissions?

Thanks

Hi,

There is a setting you have to change (at least in XP) I'm pretty sure you have to disable simple file sharing in the control panel and then the security tab will be visible from the properties on your drives.  I can't remember 100% for sure that it is simple file sharing though.  Do a search on Google for enabling the security permissions on folders and it should turn something up.  I remember this driving me crazy too.  :)
