Please help.  Our website went down out of the blue and all we get is the error message below when you try to access it the url.  I'm not the most experienced with this program so any help anyone could offer would be much appreciated.

DotNetNuke Upgrade Error

The Assembly Version ( [ASSEMBLYVERSION] ) does not match the Database Version ( [DATABASEVERSION] )

ERROR: Could not connect to database.

An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

For whatever reason, your web site cannot access the SQL Server.  You need to check a handful of things:

  1. Make sure the SQL Server is accessible from the web server
  2. Make sure that the SQL Server services are running
  3. Make sure that the SQL Server is accepting remote logins
  4. Make sure that the SQL Server is using TCP/IP, and disable the other protocols
  5. Make sure that the database itself is not "Offline"

There are more things to check, but these should get you started.
