Hi all DNN pros

I am using the DotNetNuke Compiled Module template when doing my modules but I get an error from a certain RNDViewInfo01.SqlDataProvider

Question 1: Is this template for WAP module development only or can it be used for both WSP and WAP module development?

Question 2:

I have read a lot about WSP and WAP but still haven't found the best document here on dotnetnuke.com to sell into me if I should swap to WSP development. Can someone give me a quick rundown on why I should use WSP module development instead of the WAP (I guess older??) module development? It seems to me that there are a number of bugs related to WAP module development that the community is moving over to only WSP module development?

Question 3:

The trouble I am facing is that when a fault like this occure then I prefere to check a fully working module how the code should be done there but this particular .SqlDataProvider I cannot find in any ohter already working modules like Blog or Html Modules ? Why doesn't these module contain any .SqlDataProvider file that runs the registration of the module?

1. the compiled module is for WAP -heres a useful guide http://www.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNukeHELP/DNN4_WAP/

2. http://www.mitchelsellers.com/blogs/tabid/54/articletype/articleview/articleid/171/wap-or-wsp-which-to-use-and-why.aspx covers the strengths/weaknesses well

3. i'm not sure what you're asking here, pretty much all modules have sqldataprovider files as they need to create/amend objects and data. Please make sure you're downloading the source version of a module. Note: many modules zip up their content into a file with a .zip or .resources extension to save time, this get's uncompressed during install, but if you just want to check out the contents unzip it manually (you'll have to rename the .resources package to .zip)
