Hi, following up on a prior thread, looking to try to make the current version usable, we tried switching to 1 vote per registered user. This seems better, but how do i remove a vote? where is it stored? In another cookie? Apparently note, since deleting cookies did not remove the status of the survey that did occur in the other mode.

Thanks, drew..

Hi Drew,

I guess I'm not following what you are trying to do.  Why would you want to remove a vote?

The votes are stored in the SurveyOptions table.

The tracking as to if someone has voted or not is stored in a cookie if that option is chosen in module setttings or in the Profile table using the Personalization object if the "1 Vote/Registered User" method is chosen.

Using a cookie will allow anonymous user's to vote, but they can defeat the one vote per user if they delete the cookie.

Using the 1 Vote/Registered User option will store the users vote in the DB so it is more accurate and secure way of making sure that each user only gets one vote.

Keep in mind also that if the Survey has expired, then you will only see results after that, because no more votes can be taken.  The expiration for the survey is set in the module settings at the same place as the Vote Tracking.

Also realize that each module is a "Survey", and that you can have multiple questions on one survey.  The action says "Add Survey", but you are really just adding questions to that survey.

So, if you want to start a new survey, you should add another module.   I know this isn't the best design, but that is where it's at right now.

Hey John, the reason to remove the vote(s) was because the survey in question is part of a demo site which will be the actual released site pending sign-off and the survey in question is long and wordy. After a few test votes, we wanted to remove the votes that are set as 1-per registered user. So if i read you correctly, is that vote-per-user still stored in the SurveyOptions? and if so, how unless it is a subtable (1-m) off of each option.

All sort of moot right now as i did buy SuperSurvey to move this along, but i will still use the standard survey in some sites but want to respect the licensing. Cheers, drew..

The aggregated number of votes is stored with each survey option in the SurveyOptions table.

The fact that a user has voted or not is either stored in a cookie or in the Profile table.

Hi John,

Suppose I have a very simple survey with one question and one answer, kind of like a opt in, for instance:

Q: do you agree?

A: yes (checkbox)

Would it possible to execute a SQL query that returns a list of all dnn users that have selected yes in the survey? (off course when using: 1 Vote/Registered User)

Thanks
